The exhibit includes a range of objects that Wolfe has made alongside her choreographic works – large-scale quilts, costume/props, photographs, works on paper, and miniature landscapes. “Part of my process involves making objects (which may be used in performance). This acts as a tangible visual expression of how I’m working on a particular dance project. My works often address queer visibility and environmental issues which can appear as direct thematic material, emotional undertones, or metaphorical implications; reflecting on memory, loss, and community.”
For example – on display will be three oversized reversible quilts/robes created for New Faithful Disco (2016), which are made of denim donated from family and friends, and lined on the reverse with shining gold brocade. In tandem and reflecting on the dance-making process, Wolfe slowly gathered the material, fit small pieces together to gradually accumulate into larger sections, which she finally stitched into a complete work.
Reversing Falls Sanctuary is dedicated to creating community through spiritual exploration, the arts, and ecological awareness.
